Custom Products FAQ

Custom Products give your shop the flexibility to create and manage products outside of standard catalog offerings inside Printavo. This article answers common questions about Custom Products, including how to use them for specialty items, customer-supplied goods, and unique quoting scenarios so your team can handle a wider range of products and customer requests more efficiently.

In this section:

Does re-importing products create new ones or replace existing products?

You can re-import products to replace existing products if they have the same:

  • Brand
  • Style Number
  • Description
  • Size
  • Color

If these fields are the same in your new CSV import, they will replace the existing product record in Printavo. If the fields are different, a new product will be created.

How can I mass delete custom products?

Deleting the custom products you've uploaded is easy. To do this:

  1. Head to My Account
  2. Click Import/Export Data
  3. Click Import Products
  4. Finally, click "Delete Products" at the bottom of this page

How do I search/add my Custom Products in a quote/invoice?

When you're building your quote using Custom Products, your unique identifiers (what Printavo will use to find that product) to find the product you want will be the following:

  1. Item #
  2. Color
  3. Description

*NOTE: While the Description column is a unique identifier, it won't show your custom product variants unless the full description is typed out. A partial search will not work unlike with Item# or Color. You'll need to type out the full description of that product in this column to pull the product.

You'll want to make sure that your items are set up to have enough identifiers so that Printavo can easily recognize the product you want and pull it into your quote.

We recommend filling all of the columns for your Custom Products to ensure you're giving Printavo enough about the item to pull up easier when building your quotes. The more unique identifiers you type in for a custom product, the more our search will narrow down your results.
